GeekHive Celebrates New Space with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
May 19, 2017
GeekHive celebrates a move, expansion, and renovation of a 13,000+ square foot office with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on May 19th.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate this momentous occasion. It’s been a long time coming and we’re really proud to share this moment with our community. We’ve already come so far, I can’t wait to see where we go from here!” Peter Ladka, GeekHive’s President and CEO
Founded in 1997, GeekHive has built a thriving tech business right here in the Hudson Valley, through partnering with digital agencies in NYC and around the country, helping them bring their creative ideas to life through technical expertise.
“Treat people like they matter, because they do.” Peter Ladka
GeekHive’s backbone has always been amazing employees. GeekHive’s guiding value is their “People First” principle – the people on the team are people first, employees second. This mindset has led to an extremely low turnover rate with many tenured staff working at GeekHive for 8+ years, including CTO Jay Oliver, GeekHive’s first employee hired in 2001, and Technical Director Kevin Varley.
“When I first started with the company, I remember talking with Peter and him saying “I look forward to us sitting here together 10 years from now.” At the time, the longest I had remained at any company was about 3 years and I recall nodding and thinking that seemed unlikely. The ribbon cutting actually marked nine years to the day of my tenure with the company so I can say that it’s yet another thing that Peter has proven me wrong about. I can honestly say that I haven’t ever felt as committed to a company as I have here and it’s the result of a great, talented group of people that Peter has helped bring together.” Kevin Varley
After 30-40% growth over 2015 and 2016, it was time to find a permanent home for GeekHive’s headquarters that would not only give ample room to keep growing but that also reflected how far they’ve come and where they strive to be. After searching several potential locations, GeekHive moved into the former Georgia Pacific facilities, a beautiful 13,000+ square foot converted warehouse on Church Street.
GeekHive is committed to keeping their headquarters in Warwick as they continue to grow offering work and growth opportunities to people in the Hudson Valley. Founder Peter Ladka believes so much in supporting the community that he not only started GeekHive, but also a local non-profit. Beautiful People is the Orange County Chapter of Miracle League, which is in its 10th year of building bridges between children with special needs, their families, and the broader community of Orange County through their adaptive sports programs.
