How to Open the Content Editor in Sitecore CMS
October 8, 2014
This is the fourth in a series of posts about learning how to use and develop for Sitecore CMS; it is the follow-up post to “How to Reset the Administrator Password in Sitecore CMS”. In this “How to” post I will be covering how to open the content editor in Sitecore CMS.
When developing a website in Sitecore, most item management happens from the Content Editor. Creating, deleting, modifying, moving, publishing, sorting, and viewing items are just a few of the many tasks that can be handled within the Content Editor interface.
Because the Content Editor is so important to managing Sitecore sites, there are a variety of ways to open the Content Editor interface.
From the Launchpad
Click the “Content Editor” button on the launchpad
From the Desktop
By default, the Content Editor will be listed at the top of the “Sitecore” menu. Clicking the option in the menu will open the editor.
All Applications in Sitecore Menu
If the Sitecore menu has been modified, there is an additional link to the Content Editor in the “All Applications” submenu.
Sitecore 6 & 7
By default, the Content editor will be listed at the top of the “Sitecore” menu. Clicking the option in the menu will open the editor.
If the Sitecore menu has been modified, there is an additonal link to the Content Editor in the “All Applications” submenu.
Desktop shortcuts can be created in Sitecore to open specific items. Double-clicking the desktop shortcut will open the Content Editor with the item specified in the shortcut selected by default.
