Your Chair is Killing You…
May 13, 2014
…or at least it’s trying to.
Camping out at your desk all day isn’t good for your hips, legs, neck, back, and attitude. Here at work we recently acquired a fancy stand-up desk and coworkers rotate around using it. It’s an awesome thing because it allows you to adjust the height of the work space to alternate from sitting to standing throughout the day as-needed.
Another awesome thing is to just take it back a notch and throw a little yoga into your workday. It could be as simple as taking a five minute sitting meditation, or even better, a five minute walking meditation where the focus is on your breath and footsteps rather than your inbox and IMs.
If your day won’t allow you to take a few minutes for yourself…that’s a bummer, but don’t let it stress you out. There are tons of yoga poses (pretty much EVERY one) that can help ease the stress you put on your body and mind all day long.
Here are a few that you can do at the end of the day to help ease your mind and your body back to normal…and it all starts with just breathing.
If you’ve never done yoga before, the hardest part is just deciding to give it a shot. You won’t look like a dork, promise. Go for it, World of Warcraft will still be there waiting for you when you’re all done.
